Cherished’s Community Kitchen
Situated in Onderstegaaitjie, more commonly referred to as Covid Valley, Smutsville, this kitchen is a beacon of hope for the local community. In an area where poverty and food insecurity are rampant, our community kitchen provides a much-needed source of nutritious meals for families and individuals who struggle to make ends meet. Supported by Masithandane, and with the help of dedicated volunteers, we serve up to 100 meals per day, five days a week.
Our kitchen also serves as a gathering place where community members can connect, share their stories, and support one another. Beyond just providing meals, our community kitchen is a symbol of the power of community and the potential for positive change when people come together to support one another. Through this initiative, Cherished is proud to play a role in improving the lives of those who call Onderstegaaitjie/Covid Valley, Smutsville home.
